Canto Release Notes

Adobe Connector 4.3.6 - June 2025

  • Updated

    ~ minute read
  • The relink button in InDesign now acts smarter: When no assets are selected in the "Assets" tab of the connector, a click will relink all items. If assets are selected, only the selected items will be relinked.
  • When triggering a relink InDesign, it is now detected that an asset placed by the Canto Adobe Connector was replaced by another non-Canto asset. You can choose to keep the asset, or replace it with the originally linked asset from Canto.
  • MD5 suffixes are no longer added to cached filenames, improving workflows that rely on unmodified file names.
  • General improvements to performance and stability

When no assets are selected in the "Assets" tab of the connector, the relink button shows “Relink All Items” - a click on it will relink all items.

InDesign: Detection of replaced assets

The Adobe Connector now checks if the linked file in InDesign matches the asset in Canto. If not, the user will see a dialog asking if the originally linked asset should be loaded from Canto.

MD5 suffix is no longer added to cached files

Previous versions of the Adobe Connector added a MD5 suffix to the filename of downloaded files to ensure that the file in the cache matches the asset in Canto.

Many of our customer requested to keep the original file name, since they rely on the unmodified filename for their workflows.

The Adobe Connector now caches files without adding a MD5 suffix. The MD5 hashes are now stored in the file ~MD5-DO-NOT-DELETE.json in the cache folder.

You can download the newest version directly from the Adobe Exchange or update via the Creative Cloud.
